Position: Part-Time Jr/Sr High School Guidance Counselor
Primary Summar Building: Morrice Jr/Sr High School (thirty miles east of Lansing, Michigan)
Reports To: Secondary Building Principal

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an (NT) endorsement to provide Guidance and Counseling on the secondary level (additional endorsements preferred).
2. Three years of successful teaching experience preferred.
3. Familiarity and experience with Michigan’s Comprehensive Guidance Program required
4. Familiarity with Michigan’s Merit Curriculum, NCLB, Ed, Yes State curricular assessments, and
Advanced Placement (MME, PSAT, PLAN, ACT, SAT)
5. Ability to monitor student academic performance and progress on a regular recurring basis
6. Experience with student scheduling and the creation and management of building master schedule.
7. Experience with vocational education and vocational educational programming
8. Experience with computer applications related to scheduling (PowerSchool), data input and
retrieval, in addition to common applications of school based instructional technology
9. Demonstrated ability to be a positive, effective, collaborative leader with the highest degree of
integrity, ethics and work standards
11. Advocate for school improvement initiatives driven by NCLB and EdYes with the ability to enhance
school effectiveness by implementing district and building school improvement plans
12. Demonstrable skills in human relations; ability to communicate thoroughly and effectively with
parents, students and staff.
14. Must support and participate in the school’s efforts to create a positive school climate and assist
in the promotion of appropriate school behavior including PBS and MiBLSi initiatives.
16. Willingness to initiate and maintain regular conversation and communication with students,
parents and staff about student performance and behavior
17. Responsibility to keep informed of and comply with state, district and school regulations and
procedures and policies
18. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
19. Must possess demonstrated abilities in problem solving and resolution and decision making
20. Demonstrable ability to plan, organize and prioritize while meeting timelines related to school and state mandates
