  1. Valid teacher certification.
  2. Master’s Degree or Master’s Degree in progress in administration, curriculum, or teaching.
  3. Must meet State of Michigan requirements for a building administrator with an Administrative Certificate
  4. Strong emphasis in use of technology
  5. At least three (3) years classroom experience in grades 6-12.
  6. Preferably three successful years in public school administration and supervision.
  7. Able to meet school improvement administration requirements.
  8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.



Superintendent of Schools



  1. To provide leadership in developing and maintaining the best possible educational programs and services.
  2. To make the school facility an attractive, pleasant, and productive place in which to work and learn.



  1. Overall 6-12 administrative management (includes supervision and evaluation of secondary administration staff).
  2. Serve individually and with other administrators in the school system under the guidance of the superintendent, in studying and working for the overall improvement, welfare, and development of the school district.
  3. Keep the superintendent informed of important accomplishments, needs, and problems in the fields of administration, personnel, instruction, and community relations in the school to which he/she is assigned.
  4. Provide opportunity and leadership for those working with him/her to share techniques, understandings, and ideas for improving the school program.
  5. Organize the administrative and other aspects of the school so as to free himself/herself as much as possible for the major tasks of evaluating and improving the instructional program.
  6. Cooperative responsibility for curriculum development and improvement:  grades 6-12.
  7. Interpret school programs to the constituents of his/her school service area.
  8. Administer and supervise his/her school in accordance with such policies, rules, and regulations as the superintendent may prescribe.
  9. Work cooperatively with the superintendent and assistant superintendent in formulating an organized program for the inservice education of members of the school staff.
  10. Make objective recommendations with adequate supporting data to the superintendent in regard to cases of assignment, transfer, promotion, demotion, renewal, non-renewal of contract, or dismissal.
  11. Increase efficiency and effectiveness through advanced study and through participation in professional organizations and professional conferences.
  12. Recommend to the superintendent for adoption an estimated budget for the ensuing year; assists in modifying and refining the estimated budget; administers budget adopted by the board of education.
  13. Overall 6-12 facility and custodial maintenance management (in cooperation with the maintenance working leader.)
  14. Cooperative responsibility for school discipline grades 6-12.



260-day contract year.  Salary and work year to be established by the Superintendent.  Initial two-year contract annually renewed for future years.


The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District as noted per Board Policy 1400.




$85,000 - $92,000 depending on education and experience.
